Plan2Vest preview

Build your plan and see where it leads

Upload the Plan2Vest spreadsheet or type in your numbers, and My Money, My Future, My Investments and My Plan fill in with your own snapshot, retirement projection, holdings at today’s prices and next steps. Your watchlist, built from the symbols you star in the Market Center, works too. My Protection and My Education still show illustrative sample data. Your plan is saved only in this browser, projections are hypothetical, and nothing on this page is personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

Build my plan

Bring your numbers in once and Plan2Vest turns them into a snapshot of today, a year-by-year projection to retirement and beyond, and a short list of next steps to learn about.

Upload a spreadsheet

Fill in the Plan2Vest template in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, then upload it here.

Enter it here

Type in your ages, income, spending, accounts, debts and goals. It takes about ten minutes.

Try a sample household

See how everything works with a made-up family's numbers first. You can clear it anytime.

Your plan is saved only in this browser. Spreadsheets are read on your device and never sent to Socratii. If you add holdings, only their ticker symbols are sent, to look up today’s prices; share counts and balances stay on your device. Don't include account numbers, passwords or Social Security numbers; Plan2Vest doesn't need them.

Macro reference

Economic backdrop

Before you set your plan, see where the global economy and its major regions sit in the business cycle, from the OECD's leading indicators. It's context for your plan, not a reason to change it.

OECD data

How to read it

Each dot is an economy. Right of center means its leading indicator is above the long-term trend; above the middle line means it rose over the last month. Economies tend to move clockwise through the four phases: expansion, downturn, slowdown, recovery.

What it isn't

A forecast for markets or a signal to buy or sell. Stock prices often move before the economy does, and these indicators show direction, not how fast an economy is growing.

Using it in a plan

Several cycles can come and go during a long-term plan. Diversifying across regions, keeping an emergency fund and rebalancing are ways people prepare for any phase. Asset allocation lesson

My Watchlist

The stocks and ETFs you star in the Market Center land here. Follow their prices, sort them into stages, keep a note on why each one caught your eye, and sketch a hypothetical mix to see how it spreads across sectors.

Your list

Your list, stages, notes and sketch are saved in this browser only. Prices refresh every 30 seconds; YTD returns include reinvested dividends where available. Charts and company details are a click away in the Market Center. For education only, not a recommendation. Market Data from Tiingo.com

Try it, no real money

Practice portfolio

Start with practice cash, buy and sell real stocks, ETFs and funds at real closing prices, and track how your portfolio does against the S&P 500. It's a safe way to test what you've learned before any real money moves.

Hypothetical

Starting cash
Start date

Starting in the past lets you see how your picks would have done since then.

The sample starts one year ago with $10,000 split 60/20/20 across a U.S. stock ETF (VTI), an international stock ETF (VXUS) and a bond ETF (BND). It's a classic teaching example, not a recommendation.

  1. Pick your cash and start date. Up to $10 million, starting today or as far back as five years.
  2. Place practice trades. Buy or sell by dollars or shares. Trades fill at that day's closing price.
  3. Track your performance. See value, gains, dividends and your mix, day by day, against the S&P 500.

Hypothetical results for education only. No real money is invested, and the results don't reflect fees, taxes, bid-ask spreads or the effect of real trading on prices. Past performance doesn't predict future results, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Your cash amount, start date and trades are saved in this browser only; prices are loaded fresh each visit and aren't saved. How the practice portfolio works · Market Data from Tiingo.com
